Reframing Dog Training and Extraordinary Daily Dog Walking & Pet Sitting Visits!
I established Have Leash Will Travel Inc. in June of 2012, and have expanded the services we offer to include the Games Based Dog Training that I learned for our own rescued Rottweiler Ripley. During our transition and website reconstruction, a lot more than our Tag Line is changing! There are photographs of beloved pets here, that won't be included in the future, because although I have always loved them dearly, and had only the best intentions, they show equipment and methods that I no longer use or advocate. That said, as always: The Health and Safety of every animal in our care is always our first priority, while providing Exceptional Client Service!
I offer a mentally and physically active walking experience for dogs in The West Loop, with Positive Training Re-Enforcement included in every Daily, Part Time, or Occasional Visit. Puppy and Senior Dog Visits are divided into two or more parts, and I have successfully adapted my methods to the smallest, largest, strongest, most timid, and the most brazen types of canines. Special needs dogs are very welcome to join us on appropriate walks for them, and I have extensive experience with canines who have epilepsy, heart conditions, knee issues, and who might react strongly to other dogs or people.
Daily Dog Walking is available from Van Buren to Washington and Ashland to Halsted streets. We require 2 keys to any residence and our own door access to buildings. Water service and affection are included with every walk, we bring and use our own leashes and pick-up bags, and happy to offer a few of their own treats to your pup if you would like, we encourage it!
Sitting Visits are available for any type of pet on most Weekdays, Weekends, and Holidays within the West Loop, and the surrounding neighborhoods. We strive to match each pet's regular schedule and to create the most beneficial, stress free, and enjoyable experience for them, all in the comforts of home. Nothing can match the peace of mind we provide for our clients, fully enjoying their time away, knowing that their best Furry (or Feathery, or Scaly!) Friend is being cared for by an expert, who truly cares about animals and the people who love them!
I have attained and maintain the status of Certified Professional Pet Sitter with Pet Sitters International and certification in Pet First Aid and CPR through Pet Tech's PetSaver program. Our insurance and bonding policies are with Business Insurers of the Carolinas. Pro Dog Trainer is just one of the many courses I have successfully completed through Absolute Dogs, as well as Home School The Dog with Susan Garrett's Dogs That organization, and Level 1 at The Nordic School For Dog Trainers. Though I have taken courses with many other schools and with other trainers during the first decade of my time caring for canines, those schools and courses are not in this list, because I no longer teach their methods or advocate for them. Copies of my credentials, and references that you may contact by email or phone, are available by request.
Ripley is our beloved Pet Project, who inspired me to learn about Force and Fear Free Dog Training, which led me to the world of Games Based Brain Shaping. She is transformed from an Anxious Reactor into a loving Big Sister to our toddler Charlotte. The methods I originally learned in order to teach her, without triggering her many fears, can be adapted to any canine, situation, and person, no matter what their struggle may be. Pictured above is our dearly departed Maulric. Our Boy, and HLWT's original Mascot, left this world in the Fall of 2018, but will never leave our hearts!!!
Thank you for considering Have Leash Will Travel for all your pet care needs! You and yours will be glad you did!!
